Shillong (Meghalaya), June 11 : The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has summoned East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi to appear before it in person on June 20 following an incident of alleged harasment of a lady activist on Sunday evening .
The MHRC has also asked for a detailed report from the Director General of Police into the matter.
Earlier, Advocate Enlang Sawian had filed a complaint against the East Khasi Hills police chief with MHRC and the Meghalaya State Commission for Women for trying to take Ms . Bindas Syiem out of the hunger strike venue.
As per the complaint, on Sunday around 12.30 am, armed male police officers from the Special Operation Team, led by the SP entered the protest site at the Additional Parking lot, Secretariat without any female police officer or an Executive Magistrate.
The complaint also stated that the SP was in an inebriated state.
