Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 7: 26 students from Meghalaya stranded in Sikkim after the flash flood cut off roads and bridges are likely to reach Shillong at 4 pm this evening.
According to official sources, these 26 students had left Majitar (Sikkim) for Siliguri in 5 vehicles and reached Siliguri by 11 PM on Friday.
A bus was arranged from Siliguri to Shillong and have already crossed Kokrajhar in BTR.
Sources further stated that they will reach ISBT, Shillong at 4pm from where they can go to their respective locations.
Earlier ,5 of the students had already returned on their own to the state.
25 people have so far died and 143 are missing after a flash flood hit the Teesta River in the early hours of Wednesday. Search and rescue operations, led by the Army and NDRF, are continuing as several parts of the Himalayan state remain cut off.
