Shillong (Meghalaya ),Aug 5 : A total of 576 new Covid cases were detected in the state and 8 more patients succumbed to their infections in the last 24 hours .
According to health department sources , 8 more patients succumbed to their infections in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 1,133.

While , 5 deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills , 1 case each was recorded in Ri Bhoi, West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills .
On Thursday , 576 new cases were detected with East Khasi Hills on the top with 247 cases followed by West Garo Hills with 90 new cases.
A total of 510 patients were also discharged from various hospitals after full recovery .
The active cases as of now stand at 5,574.
