Guwahati ( Assam), July 23 : Assam police rescued 39 children & 3 young adults from Sikkim recently . All of them belong to the poorest section of the society residing in Indo Bhutan border areas.
On Friday they were brought to Guwahati, where CM Himanta Biswa Sarma met them, interacted with them and distributed gifts to them.
We have decided to either hand over the children to their parents or send them to residential schools as per the recommendations of the Child Welfare Committee to ensure a better future for them.

While with the children, he declared that these children will be properly rehabilitated and their parents would be provided financial help where necessary.
The main culprit behind this despicable crime one Krishna Jogi has already been arrested .
The parents of the children, hailing from four villages of Chirang district along the Indo-Bhutan border, were lured by two persons who assured that their education would be taken care of, but they ended up as domestic helps, CM Sarma told reporters here.

Accused Krishna Jogi during interrogation confessed that in the last two years, 80 children have been trafficked from the state, with some sent to Dubai as well.
The operation to rescue the children was initiated by Chirang Police under the guidance of Bodoland Territorial Council Chief Promod Bodo and Special DGP L R Bishnoi, while Sikkim Police provided the necessary help and cooperation.
