Guwahati ( Assam), April 26 : The alarming surge in Covid -19 cases in the state continues with 3137 fresh Covid -19 cases detected today .
Among the new cases 1153 new cases were detected in Kamrup (M) .
Today , 15 crticially ill patients succumbed to their infections .
The overall positivity percentage is 4.29%.
Meanwhile . DC Kamrup (M) has declared closure of all government and non-government schools from classes VI to VIII till May 8 as active Covid-19 cases have crossed the 1000 mark today in Kamrup Metropolitan district.
Health Minister Dr . Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted , “With cases in Kamrup Metro exceeding 1000, I’ve advised DC to shut down all educational instns including hostels for 15 days for now. All other districts, where the numbers reach a threshold that require such measures,
Dr . Sarma while addressing a press confrence said that Assam is consuming 20 MT per day. Due to our concerted efforts including operationalization of new PSA plants over last 10 days, Today Oxygen production capacity has reached 61 MT per day. We’ve also expanded our Oxygen storage capacity to 468 MT.
“Over next 10 days we are comfortable about Oxygen supply. Over next week we shall also operationalize 3 more Oxygen plants. We’ve a stock of 25,000 #Remdevisir. In addition to patients in govt hospitals, we’re also supporting pvt hospitals.”, he added .
Assam has also added 200 more ICU beds in last 10 days, and efforts are on increase this further and the state is comfortable about beds, oxygen, medicine and ICU availability for next 10 days.
