Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Dec 10: The fate of the 131 candidates were sealed in ballot boxes as the phase II of the 4th general elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) concluded on Thursday evening with a turnout of 80% amidst tight security in 19 constituencies in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.
However , few unwanted incidents were reported from some parts of the districts during the poll hours.
The counting of the votes will be taken up on Dec 12 across the four districts of the BTAD.
The final phase poll of the Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts witnessed huge participation of the voters in the polling centres in both the districts since morning till to the end of the polling .
The overall poll percentage during phase II was around 80% in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts that saw peaceful and massive participation of voters.
In the phase II council elections there were total of 131 candidates in the fray.
UPPL president Pramod Boro said that voters from both the districts participated enthusiastically in the council elections which concluded in a free and fair manner .
He was hopeful that UPPL would be winning majority of the seats in both the phases in the council elections and thanked all citizens who participated in the council elections.
He said that UPPL is forming the next BTC council administration with the wave of parivartan and massive development among all sections of the communities.
BPF president and Debargaon constituency candidate Hagrama Mohilary cast his vote at Debargaon HS school polling centre early in the morning. He reached the polling centre along with his wife Sewly Mohilary and two sons.
Mohilary too claimed that his BPF is forming fourth consecutive BTAD administration by winning majority of the seats.
He added that people from all sections of communities have voted in favour of BPF in the council elections.
Baukhungri BPF candidate and ex BTC executive member Doneswar Goyary cast his vote at Molandubi LP School polling centre in Kokrajhar.
BPF candidate and former BTC executive member Rajib Brahma cast his vote at Bhalukmari LP School polling centre in the morning. Brahma reached the polling centre along with his wife Jyotika Brahma.
He said said that he was winning from the constituency with majority votes and added that citizens irrespective of caste and communities have voted in favour his candidature.
UPPL candidate for Baukhungri constituency and the vice president Pratibha Brahma cast her vote at Vidyapith High School polling centre in the phase II BTC council elections.
UPPL candidate for Debargaon constituency Buddadev Mushahary cast his vote at Bashbari High School polling centre amidst tight security during the council elections today.
He said that people want parivartan and welfare among the society.
UPPL candidate for Dotma constituency Jyotirindra Brahma cast his vote at Ramfalbill HS school polling centre.He arrived at the polling centre along with his wife.
Former Rajya Sabha MP and founder president of UPPL Urkhao Gwra Brahma cast his vote at Batabari LP School polling centre under Dotma constituency in Kokrajhar. He too was accompanied by his wife.
Brahma too expressed his confidence of winning majority seats in the council elections.
BPF candidate for Salakati constituency Derhasat Basumatary cast his vote at Salakati LP School polling centre.
UPPL candidate for Banargaon Rabiram Brahma while casting his vote said that this time around people have voted in favour of parivartan and welfare of the citizens.
Assam Social welfare minister and senior BPF leader Pramila Rani Brahma cast her vote at Vidyapeeth High School polling centre in Kokrajhar town.
Brahma said that BPF would be winning majority of the seats in the 40 member house of the BTC Legislative Assembly.
