Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Dec 5: With just days left for the general elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council( BTC), security forces in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar and Chirang districts in a joint search operation have recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from different locations on Saturday .
In Kokrajhar,security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from Saraibil area under Gossaigaon subdivision in Kokrajhar on Friday evening during a joint search operation.
Addressing a press conference SP Kokrajhar Rakesh Roushan said that the arms and ammunition were recovered in a joint search operations by security forces which consisted of Assam police ,SSB and Indian Army.
Based on a specific inputs from Sector HQ SSB, Bongaigaon ,a joint operation was launched by Kokrajhar police led by Mukut Rabha additional SP Kokrajhar along with SSB , Army and CRPF at the deep jungles of Ripu reserve forest under Saraibill outpost in Kokrajhar district.
During the search operation, huge numbers of arms and ammunition including explosives were recovered which were kept concealed underground in the thick forest area.
The recovery included two AK 56 rifles with magazines ,two handmade AK 56, six Muzzle loaded pipe gun, seven 7.65 pistol, 26 numbers of 7.65 mm pistol magazine, 3 nos of local made pistols ,two nos No.36 HC grenades, two handmade grenades , three bottle bombs ,178 round of live ammunitions,112 empty cartridges.
However,no arrests have been made so far .
In Chirang, police along with the security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Sidhapara area under Runikhata police station.
They recovered huge numbers of arms and ammunition from the district.
