Guwahati (Assam), June 25 : Due to the sudden surge of Covid cases in the city 27 areas under Kamrup (Metro) district have been declared as containment zones by the district administration today while 17 areas within the city which were declared containment zones earlier have been removed from the tag after no fresh cases were detected .
In an order , Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu has directed the circle officer to seal these areas with immediate effect.
The new areas as per the order are : Sribhumi Path, Adagudam Colony Bazar, Kahilipara Sankarnagar, Adagudam , Sri Ram Path, Lalganesh Sribhumi Nagar, Lalganesh Lalmati-II Nilachal Parking, Beharbari Prakash Kata, Lalmati Lakhimandir Path, Borsajai Near Bishnumandir, Bhetapara Champak Nagar, Bhetapara Khanwakuna, Hilltop Near Lakhi Mandir, Bongaon Lalmati near Petrol Pump Ayurvedic Research Centre, Borsajai South Sarania, near Isckon temple Ananda Nagar Hengerabari Trishna Residency, Kundil Nagar Regent Paradise, Ghoramora , Namghar Path, Hengerabari Borbari, VIP Road Indrapur, Bhangagarh Shab Tilla, Arunachal Path, Zoo Road Subham Buildwell, Zoo Road CDA quarter, Satgaon Games Village, B-7 1st floor.
The order stated that anyone found violating the rules enforced in these enclosed areas will be punished under relevant sections of the law.
The areas from where containment tags have been removed are Lamb Road, Athgaon Pukhuripar, Birubari, Kushalnagar in Bamunimoidan, Barsapara, Rupnagar, Fatasil Chariali, Silpukhri, Satgaon army camp, CISF camp, Sector-III, Noonmati, Mangaldeep Residency, Lalganesh, GS Colony, Fatasil, Tokobari, K.C. Sen Road, Swagat Apartment, Geetanagar, and Uzanbazar Railway Station.
Today , 75 patients were discharged from various hospitals across the state after they tested negative twice . The recovered patients’ numbers have crossed the 4000 mark . With this the active patients as of now stand at 2325.
The state on Wednesday saw the single day highest spike of 314 cases .
