Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Jan 10: BTC ,CEM Pramod Boro said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Kokrajhar Jan 24 next to attend the first BTR(Bodoland Territorial Region) accord day celebrations .
Meanwhile , massive preparations are on in full swing for the celebrations to be held at Green Fields ,Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar to mark the BTR accord day.
The BTR accord was signed on Jan 27 last year after tripartite talks between centre, state and representatives from four factions of NDFB,leaders from All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) and United Bodo People’s Organisation(UBPO).
The BTR accord is the third Bodo accord in the history of Bodo political arena. Earlier the first Bodo accord was signed leading to the creation of Bodoland Autonomous Council(BAC) in 1993 and Bodoland Territorial Council Accord (BTC) was signed in 2003 after tripartite peace talks .
Boro today confirmed about Shah’s visit to Kokrajhar to witness the BTR accord day as chief guest.
The BTR accord day celebration will begin from Jan 24 with a week-long programme which would include colourful programmes.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also likely to announce more developmental and welfare schemes during his visit.
On Monday,Boro paid a visit to Green Field Bodofa Nwgwr to take stock about progress of the preperations for the grand celebrations .
He also inaugurated today the newly constructed Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Girl’s Hostel at Titaguri High School complex at Kokrajhar.
The hostel building was constructed under the SSA scheme of the education department.
Boro emphasized for quality educational environment with better administration in the BTC area tor integration and welfare initiatives among the society.
He has urged upon the teaching community to render their dedicated services to bring quality educational environment among the student community.
He appealed to the student community to dedicate their valuable time while acquiring higher studies in their student life and become successful in whatever vocations they choose .
“We must have a good education policy to meet the need based education in BTR”, Boro said .
Meanwhile, Boro also supervised past work of BTC secretariat including the main gate construction .He said that the first priority is to build functional office where citizens can come without any restrictions.
He also informed the work for beautification of BTC secretariat is already in progress .
