Guwahati( Assam), June 22 : State Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that since June 15, 144 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected “without any travel history at the community level.”
“During the second phase of the detections, we were getting cases without any travel history. We had appealed people to come forward for tests”, Sarma said.
The minister said on Sunday 100 Covid cases were detected in the city on Sunday which is a matter of great concern.
The Minister said that the connection with Fancy Bazar is evident in all these cases and Fancy Bazar is a common cause of concern.
Moreover ,Pandu, Maligaon, Machkhowa and the 15, 16 wards have emerged as coronavirus hotspots in the city.
Dr.Sarma said that health department has recommended ward-wise lockdown in Guwahati and the decision will be taken by Kamrup Metropolitan district administration, soon.
Several cases with no travel history have been detected at Fancy Bazaar, Pandu, Maligaon, Machkhowa, Dhirenpara and Fatasil Ambari.
