Shillong (Meghalaya), Mar 10: In a heart-stopping match, Laitkor SC pulled off a stunning 2-2 draw against leaders Mawlai SC at the SSA Stadium in Polo, here, ensuring the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024 title will be decided in the final match.
Laitkor took the lead with an own goal (22′) and scored again through Sandy Kharkongor (35′), while Kevin Rymbai (27′) and Banskhemlang Mawlong (58′) found the net for Mawlai.
The draw means Mawlai will face second-placed Shillong Lajong FC in a thrilling season finale on Saturday, needing only a draw to secure their third consecutive title. Lajong, with 42 points, must beat Mawlai (45) to lift the trophy for the fifth time.
Laitkor’s draw propelled them to fifth place with 25 points, capping off an impressive season.
