Kokrajhar(Assam),Nov 24: United People’s Party Liberal(UPPL) chief Pramod Boro today offered floral tributes to former chief minister Tarun Gogoi at a condolence programme here today .
As a mark of respected to the departed soul of ex chief minister Tarun Gogoi,the UPPL has suspended all their official programmes including election campaigns on Tuesday .
Apart from organizing a condolence meeting at the party office in Kokrajhar town, all the district committees and block committees payed their tributes to late Gogoi.
Boro recalled the contributions of Gogoi who was regarded as the undisputed leader of the state as well as in the country.
He said Gogoi had taken the initiative for signing of the historic Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) accord in 2003 which led to massive development in the region .
“Gogoi was a leader who stood for social integration in the state with his dynamic personality “, Boro said.
UPPL president Pramod Boro also paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of Tarun Gogoi in state in Guwahati today .
Meanwhile, a mass prayer service was organised here in memory of former chief minister Tarun Gogoi today in Kokrajhar district.
The mass prayer and tribute service was organised by various organisations which included AKRSU,BTC Bengali Youth Students Federation,Nath Yogi Sanmilani,Goria Moria Desi Jatiya Parishad,BPF at Fakiragram Purani Bazar .
BPF MLA from Kokrajhar West LAC Rabiram Narzary,Fakiragram constituency independent candidate Raju Kumar Barman and several other leaders offered tributes to the Gogoi and observed one-minute silence.
Narzary while recalling contributions late Gogoi,said that he was a prominent political leader who chief minister in the state for three terms.
“The state has lost a great leader with his death”, Narzary said.
