Kokrajhar(Assam),March 8: Several parties including UPPL and BPF have announced names of candidates for the upcoming Assam assembly elections in BTR districts on Monday.
United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has announced two candidate’s name for two constituencies for second phase assembly elections to be held on 1st April next in Udalguri district.
UPPL working president and ex BTC MCLA Rwngwra Narzary announced names of the candidates at a press conference held at party office here .
The candidates are Gabinda Chandra Basumatary for No.69 Udalguri LAC(ST). Basumatary is also BTR deputy CEM.
Ratendra Daimary for No.70 Mazbat LAC. Daimary is a former ABSU leader and social activist.
Narzary said that UPPL is contesting in eight LACs directly and setting candidates for friendly contest under the BJP-UPPL-AGP alliance spirit.
He was hopeful that the BJP led alliance parties are winning majority of the seats in the assembly elections as people are in favour of the alliance .
Meanwhile, president of UPPL and chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region Pramod Boro has expressed his confidence that the BJP led alliance are forming the next government in the state .
On Monday in Kokrajhar,Boro while briefing the media persons said that his party and alliance partners are fully prepared for the the upcoming assembly elections.
” UPPL is contesting the upcoming Assam assembly elections under give and take policy. UPPL is directly contesting in 8 constituencies directly and the rest under the alliance banner “, said Boro.
“There would be no impact of the Congress led alliance in the state”, Boro added.
Meanwhile, president of Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) Hagrama Mohilary has announced first list of candidates for four LACs dropping two sitting MLAs from Paneri and Kalaigaon constituencies in Udalguri district.
Mohilary,who was also former chief executive member of BTC while addressing the reporters today at party office here , said that his party is contesting in 12 constituencies under Mahajoth across the BTC areas.
He announced that this time his party is getting two new faces in the first list of the party.
In the first list,two sitting MLAs from the party have been dropped from the party nomination for the election,who are Kamali Basumatary from Paneri and Moheswar Boro from Kalaigaon constituency.
The nominated members from the BPF are sitting MLA from Mazbat LAC Charan Boro, sitting MLA and PHE minister from Udalguri LAC Rihan Daimary, Kalaigaon LAC Durga Das Boro and Paneri LAC Kamala Kanta Swargiary.
Notably,APCC general secretary and spokesman Boro joined the BPF today in Kokrajhar and immediately got the nomination from the BPF to contest the assembly elections from Kalaigaon constituency.
Mohilary said that the second list of the party would be released within few days where eight more candidate’s names are to be declared.
Mohilary claimed that Congress led alliance will form government by winning over 70 seats across the state in the upcoming assembly elections.
He said that the BJP led alliance parties would face severe defeat in the upcoming assembly elections.
