Kokrajhar (Assam),Sept 23: Bodoland People’s Front(BPF) chief Hagrama Mohilary said that Covid-19 pandemic cannot be a valid reason for delay of BTC elections in the Bodoland Territorial Council.
The former chief of BTC while attending a party meeting held at Ultapani along the Indo-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district today, has urged upon chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and state government to conduct the council elections within 27th October in the council to pave way for good governance.
Mohilary urged to end the ongoing Governor’s Rule in the region and requested CM Sonowal not to extend Governor’s rule in BTAD. He said that due to imposition of Governor’s rule in BTC all kinds of development and welfare activities have come to a halt and general people are being deprived from the welfare schemes .
He expressed his confidence that BPF would be winning majority of the seats in the council elections and forming next council and bring healthy development and welfare initiatives in the region.
He assured that more development and welfare steps would be initiated among all sections of the communities if BPF is voted to the power in the council elections.
Today around 500 new members from different political parties and organizations joined the BPF in the presence of Mohilary at Ultapani and Saralpara.
