Kokrajhar(Assam),May 13: Assam cabinet minister for Handloom & textile, Soil conservation and WPT & BC department, Urkhao Gwra Brahma today paid a visit to Tulungapuri Dotma after being inducted as cabinet minister and paid rich floral tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of ABSU.
Brahma took oath as a cabinet minister of Assam a few days ago .
He recalled the contributions of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma who had dedicated his life towards upliftment and development of the downtrodden communities including the Bodos .
He said that Bodofa’s guidance on leadership & dedication finally made him to be a leader in the society and today he was elected to the Assam assembly.
“Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma was a leader of social integration who dreamt of a greater Bodo community”, Brahma said.
Brahma assured to work with full dedication for the upliftment and welfare of citizens across the state by implementation of all developmental activities through the allotted departments from the state government.
He said that the state government has stepped up its activities to check the ongoing COVID-19 situation across the state and he has been made the in-charge of Kokrajhar, Chirang and Baksa districts.
Brahma said that the state government has initiated strict measures to combat the COVID-19 situation across the state and necessary follow -up measures are also on in BTC .
The minister said that he met the officials of the district administration and health authorities in Baksa today to work out the ways and means as how to control the pandemic for spreading further .
Meanwhile, citizens from all communities and UPPL supporters accorded a warm welcome and felicitation to Urkhao Gwra at UPPL party office her today .
Brahma was elected to the Assam assembly from Chapaguri LAC in the recently concluded assembly elections .
