Kokrajhar(Assam),Aug 26: Former president of Saoraigwra faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-S), B Saoraigwra has said that they did not get much time to think about the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) accord which was regarded as the historic third Bodo accord.
“We were not allowed much time to think about the BTR accord and that’s why we couldn’t go into the depth of the third Bodo Peace Accord (BTR) signed 27th Jan last”, Saoraigwra.
Saoraigwra was one of the signatories of the BTR accord . The BTR accord was an outcome involving all four factions of the National Democratic Front of Boroland(NDFB), All Bodo Students’ Union(ABSU) and United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO).
The BTR accord was successfully initiated during the present BJP led NDA in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and former BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary.
Presidents of four factions of the NDFB,including Gavinda Basumatary(NDFB-P),Ranjan Daimary(NDFB-R),Dhiren Boro(NDFB-D),B Saoraigwra(NDFB-S) and ABSU president Pramod Boro,General Secretary Lawrence Islary and president of UBPO Mihiniswar Narzary signed the BTR accord which is regarded the complete peace accord in the history of Bodo movement in the state as well North East as a whole.
Saoraigwra has now urged for proper implementation of the clauses of the BTR accord as per the spirit of the historic accord.
He said that they were not much aware of the clauses and contents of the BTR accord as they were not given much time to study it before signing the accord .
Saoraigwra further said that his ambition is to win from Chirang constituency in the Bodoland Territorial Council elections.
He has also welcomed Dr. Anjali Daimary to the Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) adding that her entry into the BPF would pave way for more integration within the party.
Saoraigwra is contesting on a BPF ticket from Chirang constituency in the BTC elections to be held after the Covid pandemic is controlled and fresh dates are notified.
After the signing of BTR accord, B Saoraigwra,president of NDFB-S and Dhiren Boro,president of NDFB-D have joined the BPF and they are contesting the ensuing BTC council elections on BPF party tickets while Gavinda Basumatary,president of NDFB-P and general secretary of NDFB-S, Ranjit Basumatary(B R Ferenggga) have joined the UPPL and are contesting the forthcoming council elections.
