Guwahati (Assam), June 28 : A young college student of Guwahati died in a massive landslide that occured at Hirimbapur in Kharguli area here this morning at 6 am.
The young student has been identified as Priyanka Bora aged 21 years .
She was asleep at her house when the landslide occurred .
According to eye – witness account , stones , boulders and mud fell on her house resulting in her death .
She was a student of Guwahati College .
The state and the region has witnessed rainfall for the past one week and a number of landslides have occurred in the region .
In Guwahati the Raj Bhawan’s guard wall collapsed due to landslide today due to the incessant rain that is lashing the capital city .
The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has appealed to residents in landslide-prone areas to vacate houses & shift to safer places till monsoon is over.
Meanwhile , Home Minister Amit Shah took stock about landslides in and around Guwahati and assured of all support from the National Disaster Response Force.
