Kokrajhar (Assam),March 4: Two accused persons have been convicted and sentenced to 41 year’s imprisonment by special court of district & sessions judge in Kokrajhar for raping a minor girl and selling her to a brothel in Haryana.
The district & sessions judge ,Justice C Chaturvedi today convicted the two accused persons to 41 year’s imprisonment .
The three accused persons had raped a minor girl and trafficked her to Delhi and later sold her to a brothe in Haryana on Feb, 2016 .
The minor girl was kidnapped by three persons from Bagribari area here when she was on her way to her residence from school on Feb 20 , 2016 and trafficked her to Delhi. The culprits repeatedly raped her in Delhi and later sold her to a brothel in Haryana.
The girl, somehow managed to escape from a running bus while she was being taken to Haryana and approached the Delhi Police.
The family members of the girl lodged an FIR with police and subsequently . Kokrajhar police nabbed two of the three accused persons while another is still absconding .
The case was registered with special court under section 120B/372 IPC and special court 8/17, under section 6 of the POCSO Act.
The accused have been identified as Rajimul Haque (27) of Alomganj of Kazigaon,Manirul Islam (28) of Chattpara of Jogighopa and Atowar Rahman (28) of Bagribari. Rahman is still absconding ,till date.
Haque and Islam have been convicted with the Special court 8/17, under section 6 of the POCSO case and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment with fine Rs.50,000 in default one year each and under section 372 IPC, the accused have been sentenced 7 years imprisonment with fine Rs. 50,000 in default one year each.
The same accused persons have also been convicted under section 120B and sentenced for 7 year’s imprisonment and fine of Rs.10,000 in default 3 month’s imprisonment.
Under section 372, the special court sentenced 7 year’s imprisonment and Rs. 50,000 fine in default one year.
Public prosecutor, Manjit Ghosh told this Correspondent that the two accused persons have been convicted with POCSO case and sentenced to 41 year’s imprisonment while the third culprit is still absconding .
