Shillong (Meghalaya), June 4 : Ricky AJ Syngkon of the opposition Voice of the People’s Party defeated sitting MP and Congress state president Vincent H Pala by a massive margin of over 3.7 lakh votes.
Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon secured 5071078 votes while Vincent H Pala got 199168 votes. NPP candidate Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh came in third with 1,86,488 votes.
The Voice of the People Party, which is less than three years old, has seen a significant rise since its birth before the 2023 Assembly elections in the state.
