Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 2 : An Assistant Professor of College of Community Sciences in Tura (CAU, Imphal) was charred to death after his car caught on fire on Umsalem – Umsning National Highway at around 12 noon on Saturday, October 2 .
Police identified the deceased as Ferdinand Banshanlang Lyngdoh , an Assistant Professor at CCS,Tura (CAU Imphal) in West Garo Hills . The Bolero that he was driving caught fire when he reached Umsalem – Umsning National Highway .
Police said that while the technical report on the cause of the fire is yet to be submitted, it is believed to have been caused due to smoking while the AC was on . Ferdinand was alone in his car when the incident occurred, and was charred to death while trapped inside the vehicle , police said.
Ferdinand Banshlang Lyngdoh is the son of Former Chief Minister Late E . K ,Mawlong and youngest brother of Umroi MLA, George Lyngdoh.
