Shillong ( Meghalaya) , Aug 17: The state police-based intelligence inputs busted newly formed terror outfit, ‘National Liberation Council of Nongkyndong’ (NLCN) and arrested 10 members.
The group is led by a self-styled chairman who is a juvenile and a student of class X and has been sent to a juvenile home.
Police conducted an operation and arrested seven members of the outfit from various locations in the Eastern Range, including one juvenile member who is the self -styled chairman of the outfit.
Apart from the self -styled chairman, others who have been arrested include the self -styled commander-in-chief, general secretary and area commanders of West Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills and a lady recruiter cum record-keeper of NLCN. and 3 cadres. The woman recruiter is presently admitted at Ganesh Das hospital here.
The NLCN was in the process of formation to wage war against the government and to commit unlawful activities like procurement of arms and ammunition, extortion, recruiting armed cadres, training of armed cadres, establishing armed terrorist camps and conspiring to commit terrorist acts.
Police explored the known location of the operatives and seized several incriminating documents and mobile phones from their possession and registered a criminal case under various sections of IPC .
The self -styled Chairman of NLCN who is a juvenile had tied up with Naga militant outfits and was supposed to send the first batch of cadres for armed terrorist training to Nagaland on August 17.
On Thursday the cadres were produced before the district court and five of the members were remanded police custody for eight days. Four more members from Jowai are likely to be produced in district court on Friday .
