Williamnagar (Meghalaya), April 23: Janepih YSCA kept their perfect record and clean sheet intact after super sub Bankheinlang Rongring came off the bench to fire a late winner in a 1-0 victory over A’chik SCO Rongjeng in the 5th Meghalaya State League Group G tie here today.
Introduced with the match deadlocked, Rongring needed just five minutes to make the difference. With under 10 minutes of regulation time left, he struck the lone goal to seal Janepih’s third straight win in what was their hardest-fought contest yet. The result puts Janepih top of Group G with 9 points from three games, and they remain the only side in the competition yet to concede a goal.
ASCOR produced a spirited display but were left to rue missed chances as they slumped to a second defeat in three matches. They stay fourth in the five-team group with 3 points.
In a fixture reshuffle, Group A at the Shillong SSA Stadium will host a double-header on Thursday. Umkaber SCC take on Khimusniang SC at 1pm, followed by Nongkseh SSCC versus Mawshun SCC at 5pm. All other groups retain the standard 3pm kick-off.
Thursday’s line-up includes Mawlum Tyrsad SCC against Nangkiew Irat SC in Group B at MFA Ground, Shillong. Laskein SCSC face Mawlai SC in Amlarem in Group C, while Ladthadlaboh SC meet Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC in Khliehriat for Group D. Group E at Wahiajer has no match scheduled. Langsning FC play Umlakro SC in Mairang in Group F, Maram FC clash with Attong Matgrik FC in Williamnagar for Group G, and Rangdajied United FC take on Mawlarshong SC in Mawkyrwat in Group H.
