Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 4: Heavy rainfall has brought Meghalaya to a standstill, resulting in landslides, flooding, and loss of life. The latest update reports 3 fatalities and 3 injuries.

– MC Shillong: 2.3 mm
– AMS Barapani: 0.6 mm
– MO Sohra: 15.4 mm
– Tura: 176.5 mm
A proposed warning color change from orange to red has been issued for West Garo Hills.
Rescue Efforts:
– SDRF, Tura activated
– NDRF from Guwahati requisitioned by West Garo Hills
– SDRF, Shillong sent as standby to Tura
– Civil Defence, Police, F&ES, Municipal Board activated
Current Situation:
– Tura landslides under control, rains subsided
– SDRF team from Tura stuck en route to Dalu due to landslide
– PHC submerged in Silkigre, staff and people stranded
– Roads towards Silkigre inaccessible
“The situation is being closely monitored, and all necessary measures are being taken to ensure public safety,” said an official.
