Shillong(Meghalaya), Dec 2 : Lajong has become the first team to qualify for the semifinals of the SSA Champions Cup 2025 after securing a 2-0 victory over nine-man Laitkyrhong. Iohborlang L Lyngkhoi and Babysunday Marngar scored the goals for Lajong, who now lead Group B with 9 points after three rounds. Laitkyrhong had a tough match, with two players sent off towards the end.
In Group A, Langsning and Meghalaya Police played out a 1-1 draw. Everestarly Rynjah put MLP into the lead in the 12th minute, but Manbhalang Nongmin equalized for Langsning in the 30th minute from a corner. With this draw, MLP leads the group based on goals scored (8 to 5), while both teams have 7 points and a goal difference of +4. The draw sets up the possibility of a three-way tie in Group A, with Mawkasiang still in contention.
