Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Jan 31 : The Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council ( HNLC) has claimed responsibility for carrying out the blast at Police Bazar area on Sunday evening .
In a social media post ,the outfits General secretary cum publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said that the outfit takes full responsibility of the bomb blast yesterday in Police Bazar area .
The blast was carried out as shop keepers from the area refused to pay them the tax .
The outfit also warned the government of more attacks to avenge the killing of its former leader Chesterfield Thangkiew.
A juvenile from a city locality was arrested in connection with the bomb blast in Police Bazar on Sunday evening.
The arrested person led the police to another crude live bomb planted at Demthring, which was defused immediately.
Another person was also arrested from Nongstoin for his alleged involvement in the IED explosion in Police Bazar .
Police picked them up after examining the CCTV footage in the area .
East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger in a statement said the arrested person from the city claimed to be the area commander of HNLC looking after Shillong region.
