Shillong ( Meghalaya), Jan 31 : The Executive Meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Zone III India Region was held here today.
The Speaker of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Metbah Lyngdoh informed that the Executive Meeting of the CPA Zone III which comprised of the presiding officers of all the North Eastern states – Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Sikkim.
“The agenda today in the CPA meeting was basically for finalization of the date of the CPA Zone III conference of all the NE states” Lyngdoh said, adding that the next conference will be held in Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh in the second week of March this year.
He also informed that the Chairman of the CPA will the the Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh state Assembly.
He also said that apart from the CPA, the objective in setting up this institution in NE is to basically impart training, extend support to all the legislators to the entire NE states and also to the officials of the NE Assemblies.
Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh said that till recently ,all the legislators of the different states had to attend these trainings and workshops and programmes in Lok Sabha at Delhi . Considering the distance and location , the need of the hour is to hold such training programmes at Khanapara in Assam.
