Shillong (Meghalaya), June 18 :The body of (L) Robino Kynter, (Male) R/o Kenmynsaw,Mawsynram who was reported missing during the landslide at Kenmynsaw village was retrieved late last night .
According to a press release issued by the district administration the house of one Pyntngen Khongsit of Kshaid Village under Laitkroh Khatarshnong Block was reported damaged due to landslide.
Following damages of roads and bridges due to landslides and heavy rainfall and teams from PWD (Rds) have been deployed to clear the roads.
A BSF jawan, died in separate incident of landslides in South West Khasi Hills on Friday at Lalghat BOP near Borsora Check Post.
The victim has been identified as Satish Kumar Singh of F Coy, 170 BN BSF.
The East Khasi Hills District Disaster Management Authority said there were damages reported on Saturday due to rainfall and landslides in East Khasi Hills district.
Meanwhile ,restoration works on NH06 at Lumshnong is going on in full swing and NHAI will be working round the clock to restore connectivity as early as possible. Meanwhile LMVs are being diverted through the Lumshnong – Brychirnot (Star Cement) road. The district administration appealed to all commuters to be patient and avoid travelling through this stretch of NH06 unless absolutely necessary.
So far the death toll due to rain induced landslides have risen to 23 since June 9.
