Shillong (Meghalaya), June 10: Newly elected Lok Sabha MP from Tura ,Saleng A Sangma on today resigned as a member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
Saleng A Sangma defeated Agatha Sangma, the three-time Lok Sabha MP, of the National People’s Party (NPP) by a margin 1,55,241 votes.
In a letter addressed to Speaker Thomas A Sangma, Saleng A Sangma formally resigned as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
Saleng A Sangma had won for record three times from Gambegre constituency.
His resignation was accepted by Assembly’s Commissioner & Secretary, Andrew Simons today.
He was accompanied by the working president of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congressman Committee (MPCC) and former minister Deborah Marak and Congress Mahila Dal members.
