Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 28: A gruesome murder shook the Trattoria Restaurant in Central Ward Barik Lachumiere, here, earlier today. The owner, Batskhem Suting, reported the incident at 10:20 am, stating that one of his female staff members was suspected to be murdered on the ground floor of the restaurant.
The police swiftly responded, with a team from Sadar PS rushing to the scene, accompanied by senior officers. The FSL Crime Scene Unit was deployed, and an investigation was initiated.
The victim was identified as 41-year-old Damonica Laloo from Lawsohtun, who worked as a cleaner at the restaurant. Following a preliminary interrogation and evidence collection with the help of FSL and CSU teams, the investigating team quickly identified the accused, 42-year-old Sunai Singh, a coworker of the victim.
Shockingly, Sunai Singh confessed to the crime, revealing that the motive behind the murder was an argument that erupted on Feb 27, at around 11:00 pm, after consuming alcohol. The argument was reportedly fueled by an affair between the two.
In a chilling twist, Sunai Singh attempted to conceal the body beside the transformer of KJP Assembly Constituency. The police have taken him into custody, and further investigation is underway.
