Shillong (Meghalaya ), Sept 22 : Seeing the surge of Covid cases in Qualapatty area of Shillong , The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has informed that based on the report received from the Incident Commander Zone-IV and the Medical Officer in-charge of Zone-IV that there has been a surge of COVID-19 positive case in Qualapatty Block 4 and in order to prevent further transmission among the susceptible population, early detection through active house to house (H-T-H) search for persons with symptoms and contact tracing of the high-risk and low-risk contacts is required.
For effective house to house (H-T-H) surveillance, complete containment of the area is required to ensure people stay indoor during the active search of cases, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in exercise of powers conferred under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and Amendments thereof, for containment of spread of COVID-19, in an order issued on 22nd September, 2020 has declared the entire Block-4 of Qualapatty as a containment area with effect from 22nd September, 2020 so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit on the site.
The order stated that no persons are allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the area shall not move out, besides all inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their homes.
All the shopping establishments of whatsoever nature is required to close immediately and the Incident Commander, Zone-IV, Shillong shall supervise and monitor strict compliance of the order.
According to a statement released any violation of the order shall entail prosecution under the penal provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and I.P.C. and any person residing within the containment area displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or requiring medical attention may call 108. (MIPR)
