Shillong(Meghalaya) ,Mar 22 : The foundation stone laying function for upgradation of Mylliem – Umthlong Sub Centre to Primary Health Centre was held today at Umthlong Maweitnai, East Khasi Hills District.
Health & Family Welfare Minister,nA L Hek attended the programme as Chief Guest and Community & Rural Development Minister, Hamlet Dohling as Guest of Honour.
In his inaugural address, Hek stated that the PHC is meant for the public, hence the public should come forward and avail all the benefits and services provided to them and also to take care of it by keeping it clean and safe. He stated that the upgradation of the PHC will be completed within 18 months and an amount of Rs 7.92 crores has been sanctioned for the purpose.
Hek, laid special emphasis on the medical facilities provided for pregnant women and urged upon them to go for regular check-ups in order to have healthy children and also to protect themselves from any complications during delivery. He further urged the public to enroll themselves with Megha Health Insurance Scheme, which will be a boon for the general public at large.
Hamlet Dohling, expressed happiness over the upgradation of the Sub Centre to PHC which has been a long pending dream of the people and the day marks a memorable day for the people of Mylliem Umthlong and its neighboring villages as their dream has finally see the light of day. He expressed hope that the upcoming PHC would see an increase in institutional deliveries and better health care for newborns, children and the elderly.
Dohling also urged the general public to work hand in hand with the Doctors and staffs of the PHC for the overall health development of the region. He also added that the Government is committed towards the general development of Mylliem village and many other activities would be rolled out in various sectors for the welfare upliftment of the society at large.
