Shillong, May 12: Meghalaya fashion designer Daniel Syiem was honoured with the “Iconic Trailblazer in Regional Couture” award at the Oriflame Presents WhosNext2026 Influencer Awards – East & Northeast Edition held in Kolkata.
Organised by Whosthat360 and presented by Oriflame India, the event recognised creators, artists, and changemakers from Eastern and Northeastern India, with Meghalaya Tourism as the Associate Partner.
Known for redefining indigenous fashion through contemporary storytelling, Syiem has showcased the Northeast’s heritage, textiles, and craftsmanship on national and international platforms while empowering local artisans.
Receiving the award, Syiem said his journey began as “a boy from the hills, carrying big dreams to share the stories of my people through fashion.” He thanked Whosthat360, his family, friends, well-wishers, and team, adding, “This achievement belongs to all of you.”
The recognition marks another proud moment for Meghalaya, highlighting the growing influence of Northeast India’s cultural voices on larger platforms.
