Shillong (Meghalaya), July 25 : A pregnant woman from Rikhen, Mairang under West Khasi Hills district has tested positive for Covid-19 as was confirmed by doctors of Robert Hospital Shillong where she had gone for a check-up.
This woman has become the first confirmed positive case of Covid-19 from West Khasi Hills.
A policeman who has returned from Delhi is suspected of having contracted the virus as the Truenat test conducted on him showed that his status is positive.
He arrived in the district on July 20 and is under quarantine at the Nongpyndeng Institutional Quarantine centre till date.
Meanwhile, the state government in a press -release clarified that Nazareth Hospital in Shillong has been not sealed and would continue to provide emergency services 24X7.
