Shillong (Meghalaya), July 17 : While the government is contemplating in extending more relaxations especially in the tourism sector and other areas to boost up business activities in the state , the Covid situation on the other hand seems to be deteriorating with 507 new cases and eight more deaths on Saturday .
According to the data shared by the health department , eight more Covid patients succumbed to their infections in the past 24 hours pushing the death toll to 939 .
East Khasi Hills reported 3 deaths , West Garo Hills 2 and 1 each from East Garo ,East Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills .
On Saturday 507 fresh cases were detected in the state which includes 195 cases from East Khasi Hills , 126 from West Garo Hills and 73 from Ri Bhoi .
583 patients were discharged on Saturday after recovery from the virus .
The active cases now stand at 4,080 in the state .
