Shillong (Meghalaya ) , Sept 19 : 2 more seriously ill Covid patients succumbed to their infections in the state in the past 24 hours taking the death toll to 36.
According to official sources , the two patients have been identified as Kartik Ghosh aged 50 years from Tura and Artis Pyngrope aged 68 years from Madanrting area of Shillong . While Ghosh succumbed to his infections on Friday evening , Pyngrope passed away on Saturday morning .
On Saturday , 112 new Covid cases were detected in the state taking the active cases in the state to 2,034.
Among the new cases , East Khasi Hills District reported 87 new cases which includes 22 from Armed Forces and 65 general public .
West Garo Hills District reported 18 new cases which includes 11 from Armed Forces and 7 general public . Ri Bhoi District reported 4 new cases while 1 case each was reported from East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hilla and South West Garo Hills .
A total of 46 patients were declared recovered on Saturday .
