Imphal(Manipur), June 12 : Churachandpur District Police have busted a fake driving license racket which has been operating in the district for the past several months.
According to Churachandpur Police, they received information on June 9 that one Ramkinlo Joute (56) of M. Ramthar village, Churachandpur and some unknown associates had been issuing fake driving licences since the past many months.
A team of Churachandpur Police Station led by OC Inspector N. Thangzamuan under the guidance of senior officers rushed to M. Ramthar village area and identified the house of Ramkinlo Joute.
On searching his house, the police team recovered eight fake driving licenses issued in the name of DTO/CCP, 3+1 tampered DL and RC (chips removed), 4 DLs and 2 RCs. The recovered articles were seized by observing formalities, according to the Churachandpur Police.
A suo motu case under FIR No.64(6)2021 CCP-PS u/s 468/471/474 IPC was registered. In this connection, the Churachandpur Police has arrested the main accused and his accomplice Philem Ibungo Meetei (45) of Khuga Tampak and recovered various printing materials from his shop — Inungnganbi’s Computer Works, located at Zoveng Junction, Teddim Road, Churachandpur.
Further investigation is on, according to the police.
