Imphal(Manipur), June 12 : The Manipur Government has urged all the eligible 18 years and above beneficiaries who have taken the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated with the second Dose at the earliest at the designated COVID-19 Vaccination Centres (CVC).
The eligibility for the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine (Covishield) is between 12 to 16 weeks after the first dose. A timely completion of the vaccination schedule is important for conferring full protection to the beneficiaries, stated a release by Dr N Shyamjai Singh, State Mission Director, NHM, Manipur.
As of June 11, 2021, the state has administered 5,45,948 doses of vaccine — 4,64,465 individuals have received the first dose, while 81,483 received the second dose.
For the age group between 18 and 44 years, 84,095 persons have received the first dose and just 3 individuals have received the second dose.
Meanwhile, 554 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Saturday. Majority of the positive cases from the general population are from Imphal East (118), Imphal West (171), according to the Health Department.
In the last 24 hours, the State Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee has reported 15 Covid 19 deaths, taking the death toll to 959.
On Saturday, 751 persons were discharged. The recovery rate is 83.70 per cent. The cumulative number of positive cases is 59,322 and the number of active cases is 8,710.
