Imphal(Manipur) , May 22 :Manipur Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla expressed her condolences on the sudden demise of Haji Nur Mohammad, former Chairman of Babumacha Memorial Trust and father of Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh, IFS.
In a condolence letter, the Governor said she was saddened to hear the news of the sudden demise of beloved father of Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh.
“Haji Nur Mohammad, honestly speaking, was a firm and straightforward guardian not only for your family but the whole of your community also who had a soft corner, particularly for needy and backward people”, the letter added.
“The sudden demise of a very straightforward and invaluable person is an irreparable loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on his sudden demise.” the Governor mentioned.
“May Allah give you and your family members the strength to bear this irreparable loss with courage and fortitude and may his departed soul rest peace,” she added.
It is widely known in the Pangal (Manipuri Muslim) community that he tried to reform the community. He started many welfare activities for emancipation of the community.
With the aim of making a sustainable village, Haji Nur Mohammad started Sheikh Babumacha Memorial Trust and initiated the Sheikh Brothers Seenaipung Training Programme (Handlooms & Handicrafts). Poultry farming, fish farming, cattle rearing etc. were also started by him for generating employment and the economic development of Pangal community especially and for the betterment as a whole. He also founded a drug rehabilitation, reformation and skill development centre.
Sheikh Brothers Seenaipung empowered women by giving training to many women of Manipur to gain economy and for achieving the transformational economic and social changes.
Under the leadership of Haji Nur Muhammad,Sheikh Babumacha Memorial Trust runs Princeton International school giving free education to nearly 250 students from Below Poverty Line family with the aim to empower the community through education.
On the other hand, All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) also condoled the sudden demise of Alhaj Nur Mohammad, Chairman of Sheikh Babumacha Memorial Trust (SBMT) and sponsor of AMFA Cup,Manipur.
AMFA implored for the perpetual serenity of the departed soul and rest at his heavenly abode; and shared the sorrow and grief of the bereaved family.
It may be mentioned that Nur Muhammad was brought to Shija Hospitals, Langol on 1st May and was under treatment at Neutral Ward according to a statement from Shija hospital.
He expired today morning. The cause of death being Type I respiratory failure with SARS COV-2 infection, Type II DM, hypertension and Acute Kidney, the statement added.
