Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 13: In a momentous occasion, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma officially launched Meghalaya’s first state-owned university, Captain Williamson Sangma State University, in the presence of esteemed dignitaries.
The university’s infrastructure was inaugurated in January 2023, following approval for construction in June 2018, with an investment of ₹16.96 crore. This institution is a tribute to the state’s founding Chief Minister, Captain Williamson A Sangma.
Initially conceptualized as Captain Williamson Sangma State Technical University in 2011, the university’s scope was expanded in 2022 to affiliate both technical and non-technical colleges, thereby renaming it Captain Williamson Sangma State University.
This milestone marks a significant step towards empowering the youth of Meghalaya and fostering academic excellence in the region.
