Dimapur (Nagaland), June 20 : Nagaland Health & Family Welfare Minister, S. Pangnyu Phom, on Saturrday said that as per the directives of the Central Government, the ongoing ‘lockdown’ would continue in the state and would be lifted till the Covid-19 case is below 5 percent.
At present, the positivity rate in the State stands at 9.3 percent.
Pangnyu disclosed this during his visit to Longleng district where he also had a Covid-19 review meeting with the District Task Force (DTF), Civil Societies, and Churches at Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, Longleng on the same day.
Addressing at the gathering, Pangnyu said that the purpose of the visit was to take stock of the situation and pointed out that unlike the first wave, the second wave has caused huge casualties in the country not because of lack of medical facilities but due to negligence of patients who come to the hospital at the last hour.
While asserting that Nagaland Government was giving special focus on the health sector to combat the pandemic, Pangnyu said the PDA government is committed to upgrade the overall health care facilities of the State and give best service to the residents .
He informed that the State government has decided to deduct 10 percent from LADP and another 15 percent from common pool to purchase urgent medical requirements such as pulse oximeter and oxygen concentrator to every functioning sub-center in the State.
In this regard, he has directed the DTF to make assessment of the required equipment (s) in the district.
