Dimapur (Nagaland), June 20 : The NSCN (IM) said that the collection of taxes by a “government” from its citizen is “legitimate” and not illegal.
The NSCN (IM) through its MIP in a press statement maintained that even the representatives of the Government of India who are engaged in political dialogue with the NSCN leaders, recognize the same right.
Stating that it is pointless on the part of the “critics” to level false allegations on collection of taxes by the NSCN/GPRN, the NSCN (IM) statement said that even the representatives of the Government of India engaged in political dialogue with the NSCN leaders recognize this right.
It, however, said that the GPRN is opposed to extortions and excesses if ever committed by the collectors and that is the area where the “GPRN Government” has to deal with “strong hands.”
Maintaining that the NSCN/GPRN focuses on issues and have made commendable achievements to some extend on vital issues including both “internal and external” affairs (matters), the statement also said “we are not new to the restlessness of critics and adversaries trying to smear NSCN’s image in the eye of the world with destructive scheme of things.
The NSCN/GPRN statement also stated that it put on record to assert that a number of devious plans had been executed by the adversaries to “murder” the Naga national issue, but the Naga people survived by “His Grace” from all attempts and God willing “we shall survive in future too.”
Further, the NSCN/GPRN statement also pointed out that in principle it runs its “government” and conduct affairs of the State on the basis of collective “decision-making” culture and for any matter of “national” importance, the collective leadership consisting of “Yaruiwo” (president), “Kedallo” (vice- president) and the “Ato Kilonser” (prime minister) always consults the members of the Collective Leadership, Convener of the Steering Committee and the “Kilonser” (Minister) of “Kilo (Home) Affairs.
On security related matters, it supplemented that the “Longvibu” (Chief) of the Naga Army is consulted.
