Shillong(Meghalaya), May 30: The state government on Tuesday invited the Voice of the People Party ( VPP) to discuss the job reservation policy of 1972 even as the indefinite hunger strike by the VPP president, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit entered the 8 th day on Tuesday .
A huge crowd including young students gathered at the parking lot near the additional secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
Talking to media, the party General Secretary, Ricky Syngkon said that the party has decided to be part of the meeting of the committee on reservation policy on Wednesday, May 31 at 2.30 pm.
He, however made it clear that the indefinite hunger strike by the VPP president would continue till the deliberation with the government is not as per their expectations.
Earlier, Law Minister Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh had invited the presidents of all political parties besides two representatives to attend the meeting on May 31 .
VPP president Basaiawmoit is on an indefinite hunger strike since May 23 demanding a review of job reservation policy of 1972.
