Shillong (Meghalaya), April 20: Researchers have discovered a new snake species, _Calamaria garoensis_, in the Garo Hills, marking another addition to Meghalaya’s rare wildlife.
The find came from a joint team with Help Earth, Cotton University, Assam Don Bosco University, Mizoram University, the Zoological Survey of India, and Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency.
The discovery underscores the state’s rich forest biodiversity and draws global focus to Meghalaya’s natural heritage.
