Shillong ( Meghalaya), Aug 27 : The residents of Mawlai including various social organizations under the banner of “Ka Sur Ki Nongmawlai” today organized two signature campaigns to pressurize the state Government to suspend the police personnel involved in the killing of surrendered HNLC at his residence on Aug 13 last .
The signature campaigns held at Mawlai Bus Stand and near Mawlai Petrol Pump point commenced from the residence of slain surrendered HNLC leader Late C.S. Thangkhiew at Mawlai Kynton Massar.
Speaking to the media, members of “Ka Sur Ki Nong Mawlai” said the signature campaign is to protest against the state Government’s lackadaisical attitude to suspend the police personnel involved in the killing of Late Thangkhiew.
“We are demanding suspension of the police personnel, which is a very simple thing for the state Government to do “, the leaders said .
They also said that justice should be given and suspension of police personnel will pave way for an impartial Judicial Inquiry into the unfortunate killing of the leader .
