Shillong, July 23: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Dr Saroj Kanta Barik as the next Vice-Chancellor of North Eastern Hill University.
Barik, the second senior most professor in the Department of Botany at NEHU, will assume office after the tenure of current Vice-Chancellor P.S. Shukla ends on July 26.
The appointment comes as the central university prepares to address key academic and administrative priorities in the region. With extensive experience in teaching and research, Barik is expected to guide NEHU through the next phase of growth and institutional reforms.
The decision has been welcomed across the university campus in Shillong, with faculty and students looking to the new leadership to strengthen NEHU’s position as a leading institution in the Northeast.
