Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 7 : Troops of BSF Meghalaya thwarted a smuggling attempt on Monday ,Jan 6, seizing contraband items worth ₹34.15 lakh. These items included sugar, liquor, blankets, garlic, cosmetics, and medicine intended for illegal smuggling into Bangladesh.
Acting on intelligence inputs, BSF launched operations in West Jaintia Hills, detecting smugglers near the border. Though the smugglers fled, a thorough search resulted in the discovery and seizure of concealed contrabands.

The confiscated goods were handed over to Customs Office for further investigation and legal action.
