Shillong (Meghalaya), July 28 : 8 more fatalities and 541 new Covid cases were reported in the state in the last 24 hours .
According to health department figures , 8 more Covid patients succumbed to their infections in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 1,048.
4 deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills , 2 from Ri Bhoi and 1 each from West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills .

On Wednesday , 541 new cases were detected with East Khasi Hills on the top with 244 cases followed by West Garo Hills with 109 cases .
409 patients were also discharged today after recovery and the active cases now stand at 5456 .
