Shillong ( Meghalaya), June 16 : A major earthquake measuring 4 . 8 on Richter Scale , jolted Shillong, Guwahati and other northeastern states at 10.16 am on Friday morning.
The earthquake had its epicenter in Bangladesh.
There were no immediate reports of loss of life or property.
NE has experienced several devastating earthquakes in the past, which has changed the topography of the region.
The region experiences frequent earthquakes as it falls in the seismic V zone.
