Dimapur (Nagaland), June 25: A 28 – year- old Garo youth from Dimapur, Nagaland, reportedly committed suicide on Friday morning between 8 a.m to 9 a.m at a hotel room in Safdarjung, Delhi.
According to Naga Students’ Union Delhi (NSUD) president, Issac Charenamei, the deceased’s sister, a cabin crew with an Airline company was on June 24 admitted in ICU at a hospital at Gurgaon for treatment.
Issac told this correspondent that the youth before taking the drastic step, had contacted him alleging that the doctors in the ICU of the hospital had provided “ice cream” to the patient which was widely circulated on social media.
He said that the deceased, was planning to go home as he was jobless due to the Covid-19 pandemic but took the drastic at the hotel after vacating his rented place.
The incident came to light after some of the friends staying in the same hotel though in different rooms came to know about it after which they alerted the management and the police.
It was also informed that filing of an FIR is solely dependent on the family members of the deceased.
Meanwhile, it was also learnt that the body is kept at AIIMS mortuary for the Post Mortem to be conducted on Saturday and also a COVID test would be conducted after which and if found negative, the body would be flown to Dimapur on the same day after which the body would be handed over to the relatives.
