Shillong (Meghalaya), Sept 5 : 1 more Covid patient succumbed to his infections taking the death toll to 14 .
The patient hailing from West Khasi Hills district was aged 65 years .
According to official sources , the male patient hailing from Ksehkohlong village was aan asthma patient and had gone to Mairang for treatment but tested Covid positive.
However , he passed away while he was being rushed to capital Shillong.
Meanwhile 108 new Covid cases were detected in the state on Friday persons tested positive for COVID-19, taking the number of cases in the state to 2,734 .
However , the active cases stand on 1252 .
Among the new cases 43 are from East Khasi Hills , 27 from Ri -Bhoi district , 24 from West Garo Hills , 6 from West Jaintia Hills , 4 from East Jaintia Hills , 2 from North Garo Hills, and 1 each from South Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
Already 6 government employees at the Main and Additional State Secretariats have tested Covid positive which includes employees from Finance, law and Information and Public relations departments.
Due Covid cases in the secretariat, the Teachers’ Day function being organized by the state education department on Saturday has been shifted from the Secretariat’s Yojana Bhavan to the State Convention Centre.
A total of 75 patients were discharged on Friday after recovery .
The tally now in the state is 2,734 out of which 1,252 are active cases after 1,468 patients recovered. The state has also reported 14 deaths, so far .
